Today in class, each group posted which literary devices they found most effective in Chapter 6 of Lord of the Flies. Your job now is to choose which device of your peers' is most effective and to explain why. Use your notes from today's class to help you answer the question.
Choose the most effective literary device (quote and page #) and post your reply answering the following questions:
- How does the literary device add to your understanding of the text?
- What makes it particularly effective?
We haven't focused much on the blog recently, so time to get back at it! You had some scheduled personal reading time in class this week and some of you are reading ardently outside of the class. Let's update each other where we're at.Your response should remind people what your book's title is and who it's by OR if you have a new book, what you're reading now. Tell us how the reading is going. What have you noticed about character development? What details have stuck out to you about what you've read so far? What does the book seem to be about theme-wise?Your response should touch on all of those questions, so I would imagine about a page in length. If you just started a new book and don't have that much to report, comment on the last one you read.
Well, we're a few days in to reading our personal reading books. By now, we've read both in and out of class. In your post tonight, share with the class your initial response to the book. Who are the main characters? Where does it take place? What does it seem to be about? Be specific in your response and provide details.
Many of you have expressed the desire to choose your own books and to increase the amount you read, so we will be choosing our personal reading books for the semester.
Today, you heard a book talk from Ms. Luhtala about a variety of books to choose from, and hopefully, you've decided on one. You should bring this book with you to class, as we will have built in reading time. You will have a book trailer project at the end, so be sure you're staying up to date with the reading.
Tonight's Homework: Post a brief paragraph of why you chose this book.
